Offline search engine powered by Kiwix

Search engines collect a lot of data about their users, which is why I want to reduce my usage of them.

Very often, when searching the World Wide Web, I end up at a small number of sites. Usually, I am interested most in the Wikipedia pages corresponding to my search terms. A valueable resource are also sites from the Stack Exchange network.

It turns out that these and many more sites can be accessed offline using the great tools and data provided by the Kiwix project.

The kiwix-serve program enables me to search for a term and read its corresponding Wikipedia article completely offline. (I have installed it as a search engine in my web browser.)

Thanks to Kiwix, one can be more resilient to Internet outages and increase ones Internet privacy. I highly recommend it.
